A lifelong public servant, Hollis Hackman actively served in the US Army (3 yrs.), Nebraska Army National Guard (4 yrs.), and worked for 27 years at the Veterans Administration Hospital
Graduating in 1984 from the University of Nebraska, with a Ph.D. in psychology, he and his wife Jeanne moved to Casper where he worked at the Vet Center. Two years later, they moved to Sheridan where they raised two sons.
For the next 24 years, Hollis worked with combat veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder at the VA Medical Center here. Retiring from the VA in 2010, Hollis continued to work part-time providing tele-psychology services for veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Over the years, Hollis engages in public service for several boards including:
• Sheridan County School District #2 as a Trustee – 6.5 years
• Wyoming School Board Association as Area Seven Director – 1 year
• Wyoming Chapter of the American Foundation for
Suicide Prevention – Treasurer
• Wyoming Psychological Association– Past President and presently
as Federal Advocacy Coordinator
Hollis, a devoted outdoorsman, provides professional guide services for a local outfitter. A sport diver, Hackman also enjoys a walk-on a golf course.
An avid backpacker throughout the Cloud Peak Wilderness, his memberships include numerous organizations devoted to protecting and providing access to natural resources for everyone’s enjoyment.
He is a member of the American Legion Local Post 0007. Hollis and Jeanne, a retired teacher, reside in Sheridan.
