WHY I’M RUNNING
I BELIEVE A STATE LEGISLATURE SHOULD SERVE THE GREATER GOOD AND PROTECT QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ALL OF ITS CITIZENS EQUALLY, NOT A SELECT FEW OR SPECIAL INTERESTS. IF ELECTED, I WILL WORK FOR THE PEOPLE OF SHERIDAN COUNTY, NOT SOME SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP.
Recent actions by the legislature are alarming. Bills to acquire Federals Lands within the state are poorly thought out and short sighted. I believe selling our Public Lands to meet short term budget goals should not be an option. Our public land should be used in a sustainable manner that protects them for future generations.
Even though our needs have grown, Wyoming is operating under the smallest budget in 15 years. Legislators are forcing colleges to raise tuition at a time when Wyoming families can least afford it. Legislators are forcing $100 million in cuts on public education when our kids need a quality education to be successful in the competitive high tech world. This is not to mention deep cuts to healthcare and other essential workforce and family services.
The true tragedy is that legislators chose to leave roughly $20 billion in funds relatively untapped, including the “rainy day” fund. When it’s raining, those funds can stop the economic downpour from washing away our communities. Basically, the kept the state’s fat bank accounts high and dry while our workers, families and communities got soaked. Wise budgeting would have stabilized our economy during the downturn. Instead, legislators waved goodbye to 8,000 desperate people. As the state losses population, businesses have an even tougher time staying afloat. Cuts to services such as worker training and healthcare only make it that much harder to claw back towards sustainable prosperity for all Wyomingites.
Below I have carefully described my positions on Access to Public Lands, Healthcare, Education, Worker Safety, Energy and Environment, Fiscal Responsibility and the 2nd Amendment. I realize there are other important issues facing the state. Stopping any form of discrimination, development of water resources, senior services, and government accountability are just a few. I believe the areas listed below are critically important in determining the quality of life and the economic wellbeing of the state for years to come.
Below I have provided a discussion or description of my positions. As you consider candidates, make sure the candidate of your choice defines his or her positions and clearly identifies where those positions come from and who they are supporting. My positions are values based and I am supporting the citizens of Sheridan County, not any special interest group. I am spending as much time as I can trying to campaign door to door and meet all of you in my district. If I have not provided enough detail or met you personally and you would like to discuss my positions in further detail, please reply on this website. Liberty and Liberty76
